Does not come with instructions but if you measure the shaft on your garage door to 1 inch and the notched slot on your garage door shaft measures a 1/4 inch this unit will work easy. You need a garage door shaft that is notched for it to work! I put it on a very old heavy 20x12 foot garage door and it works easy. If you are unsure if it will work get a ladder and a tape measure and you will first measure the shaft on the end of the garage door at the top and you will visibly see a notch in the shaft that should measure a 1/4 inch.
